BATir is analysing Circular Economy Models for the Construction Sector in Brussels

After our previous works on urban metabolism, BATir has been commissioned by Bruxelles-Environment a further analysis to propose operational solutions to develop the circular economy of the construction sector in the Brussels Region. The construction sector has a huge potential to develop the circular economy creating jobs while mitigating the environmental impact. The building stock is indeed responsible for many metabolic fluxes. Our recent analyses reported that its consumption accounts for 75% in energy, 98% in drinkable water, 20% in material and 1/3 of the regional wastes. Looking forward for tangible proposals and results.
